Its just nuts, I remember when I first got to start school in the fall of 2001 I was playing around 98 cents a gallon. Where did those good days go?

Today it's 94.5
Why are we paying so much more here than the rest of the country?

Because the St. Laurent/Diefenbaker pipeline runs from Alberta to Ontario/Quebec. Plus, imported oil starts in the East and then is shipped West after we've already sucked it dry! It's true, but you get the Pacific Coastline and the Mountains so it all evens out in the end.

New all time BC high (maybe Canadian too) set today on Saltspring Island: $1.019/litre. Pretty sure I also saw $1.024 in the news story, and maybe even $1.089!

95 is normal now and 87 is a steal. What the heck is going on?? When I bought my car in 1997, gas was 49.9 and it cost $18 to fill. Now I'm up near $40 for a full tank.

The Feds need to start giving us back our gas tax contributions instead of spreading it out into the general spending. Then our provincial government would stop taxing us to make up for what we used to get.

The feds aren't really the problem, if gas tax was wiped out completely, you'd be paying between 5-7 cents less per litre. Which is something, but only a drop in the pan (Get it... huh? See cause...) comapared to the crude oil prices set by the fine folks at OPEC. Plus, Paul's pretty much set on giving the gas tax directly the cities... which is technically unconstitutional... REVOLT I SAY!

I've heard prices for gas in Europe can be quite high, especially in England.

The gas station down the street from my office had free gas for an hour and a half yesterday morning! Weird hey? I was trying to get to work and there was a big traffic jam..

Has anyone ever heard of anything like that before? Seems awfully expensive for them for a promotion...

Everything in England is expensive unfortunately, but yeah gas prices are crazy here.

Thanks for the offer but as in New Zealand the ratio sheep:humans is like 3:1... same thing applies here for bikes...

Ahoy, not sure if any of you's got this email but It sounds like a smart way to combat the growing pricez of Gaz; it reads like this;

WE CAN & BETTER DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS"
> >>
> >>
> >>Dear friends & family;

We are going to hit close to a $1.42 a Litre by the summer.
Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some
intelligent, united action.
Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE
SENSE than the don't buy gas on a certain day campaign that was
going around last April or May!
The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we
wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy gas.
It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for
them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan
that can really work. Please read it and join with us!
By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $.80
a litre is super cheap. Me too!
It is currently .85 to .95 depending on what day it is,for regular
unleaded gas in Montreal, Qc.
We all know that we're being screwed by the oil companies. Does
everyone remember how they drove up the prices way past a dollar
and got the gas prices to where they wanted them, claiming there
was a shortage of oil.
Well, there isn't any shortage now, and the oil is more abundant
than it was 35 years ago when the price of a litre of gas was 29
cents!!!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have
conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre of gas is CHEAP at
$0.78-$0.85, we need to
take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the
marketplace....not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up
more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we
are going to see the
price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by
not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting
ourselves. How?
Since we all rely on our cars, we cant just stop buying gas. But we
CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a
price war.

Heres the idea: For the rest of this year, DO NOT purchase
ANY Gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one),
PETRO CANADA, SHELL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce
their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will
have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of PETRO
CANADA and SHELL buyers. Its really simple to do!!

Now, don't leave me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain
how simple it is to reach
millions of people!!

I am sending this note to at least thirty people. If each of
you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300
send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the
time the message
reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over
THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and
pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have
been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....
THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email
out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION
people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!
I'll bet you didn't
think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together
we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass
this message on.
PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $0.64 OR
LESS RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK!!!!!!!

PLEASE take a few minutes and pass this on to everyone you
know!! If you can't e-mail it to at least ten people, please print
out a bunch of copies and hand it out to your family and friends!!

"UNITED WE SAVE"........
"DIVIDED WE PAY"
I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!
