They're opening the upcoming show in Indy which I will be attending. Does anyone know anything about this band? What's their sound? What's their story?

Wintersleep are probably my favourite band now - I have seen them about 60 times.
Have two albums out now with a third coming out within the year.
Their song Nerves Normal will blow the roof off.
All I can say is at the show watch the drummer. Watch the drummer!!!

They opened three shows for the Hip in March. They also opened two shows for Pearl Jam in Newfoundland. Normally they tour on their own in Canada as a truly independent band.

Wintersleep are also opening the upcoming Towson/Baltimore show. After hearing what Mark and others have said, I'm really looking forward to seeing them. And yes, I will watch the drummer. :thumb:

I am madly in love with Orca. I think they sound a lot like Pearl Jam unplugged and a little more... together.

Forgot to say anything about Wintersleep in the Indy reviews thread, so I'll post a little here.
I thought they were very very good. No need to call attention to that drummer -- he simply stands out. Not because the other musicians aren't good, but because he's that impressive. What struck me the most about his abilities was his footwork -- I heard him hammer out some damn impressive bass rolls.

I loved the juxtaposition of the lead guitarist/vocalist and the bass player. The frontman was just so into it and the bass player just kind of stood there. It made me laugh on a couple of occassions.

I really enjoyed Wintersleep in Towson last night. Picked up one of their cd's on the way out. And yes, the drummer was very impressive!
There were 3 people behind me who had driven down from Harrisburg, PA, just to see Wintersleep. They had no idea who the Hip were. When I asked them how they knew Wintersleep they said from the internet. Somehow they had come across their website, liked what they heard, then saw them live in 2005.

I also enjoyed their performance at the Warner Theatre, but what got me was the keyboard player. Oftentimes I couldn't hear his playing and a couple songs it looked like he was just sitting there coz he didnt have a large part in some of the songs. I just found that distracting. The only time the bass player seemed to come alive was the last song that just blew the roof off the place.
