#1

There isn't much information or many references about the meaning of this song (minus Jacques Cousteau). Can you post what you know?

(see how I threw a Gems reference in there - 3 songs - one thread)

twist my arm is like a poor man's looking for a place to happen.

Jacques Cousteau is like a poor man's Jacques Cartier.

every night before bed, looking for a place to happen prays that it will wake up with a bridge as kick ass as twist my arm's.

I think the song is about picking up a girl and taking her back to his messy apartment. The rest of the song is about the uncomfortable after effects of a one night stand.

EDIT

Actually he knows this girl. He knows he should not be with her but he does anyway.

who is picking up who? is it all about temptation?

Thar she blows, Jacques Cousteau
Hear her sing so sweet and low
Lull me overboard, out-cold
Gathered in and swallowed whole

makes me think of Radiohead's creative common usage of Homer

there's always a siren
singing you to shipwreck.
steer away from these rocks
we'd be a walking disaster.

wiki says:
siren song" refers to an appeal that is hard to resist but that, if heeded, will lead to a bad result -- or the uncomfortable after effects of a one night stand.
