Hey folks, the makers of the documentary about The Tragically Hip fan culture have asked me to put this up here:
Road Apples: the ultimate recreation of The Tragically Hip
Live at the Tweedsmuir Tavern
8pm, Saturday, June 2nd.
Tweedsmuir Tavern
211 Victoria Street
Tweed, Ontario
They'd like to pack the place with authentic Hip fans, shoot us at the show and then interview us seperately in order to get our "expert" opinion on the recreation. The film will be shown on Global TV in the Fall. If you can make the trip, I'll see ya there. I'll be driving from Ottawa if anybody needs a ride.

Sounds cool stephen - but too far from my location.
Can you give us any more details?

I haven't even heard of Tweed, anyone here know how far it is from Hamilton? They are performing correct?
edit: 'halfway between Toronto and Ottawa' according to wikipedia.

Okay, so much for nuance. Judging by the e-mail I've been getting, I should be extremely clear:
ROAD APPLES, a Hip Tribute band will be playing the show. The documentary crew would like to gauge how accurately we the geeks perceive them to have re-created the live Hip experience. They have contacted some of us for pre-interviews, and those people will certainly be interviewed by the film crew. It is likely that they will interview some others, but obviously, not everyone who is in the bar.
While The Tragically Hip are aware and approve of the gig and the documentary, and while they have been invited to beautiful, downtown Tweed, IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY that the boys will show. "Stranger things..." and all that, but please don't drive out there expecting the real deal. It's a cover band.
The documentary and its subjects are fascinating though (aside from the time I spend on screen looking and sounding like an idiot) so feel free to come on down and join in on the fun.

Might be hard getting folks from the Ottawa side of Tweed to head down because that's game three of the Stanley Cup finals.
For those of you going keep your eye out for Elvis - he lives in Tweed now.

Intriguing. Now that I've moved to Ottawa (and since I don't have as much interest in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals since I am... ahem... a Leaf fan), I may be close enough to take advantage of this opportunity.
Stephen, if you still have space for a ride, PM me. If not no big deal, I may just make the drive down myself.

Stephen,
Thanks for passing my info on to the crew. Sarah contacted me, but unfortunately, the date nor the location worked for me. I told her that I would still be interested in helping out in some other way, and told her to keep me in the loop.
Thanks,
