WC still seems damn fresh to me.
The Hip have mentioned in a few interviews that they'll have another album in our hands hopefully by the end of the year.

All I know is that they're working with Bob Rock again. Robby mentioned in a recent interview (can't remember which one) that they're trying to entice Bob to come and record them at their home studio in Bath.

I think we'll see a handful of summer dates pop up in the next two months, and from there they'll do a few interviews, play a few new tunes and slowly the new record will come together. I'd wager a release late in the year, maybe even later than WC's October release. Aimed for Christmas I'm sure.
Though I suppose all this depends on whether or not Bob Rock will come out to Bath. Sounds like the band really wants t'do things on their own terms.

Not a rumor or speculation but a wish.... double album recorded at Bath with Rock. Lots of acoustics stuff and plenty of rockers...album to become the difinitive Hip cd...ie London Calling.... hailed by critics and fans.... :thumb:

Why the hell do people want a double album? Double albums usually suck. All I want is one new album and maybe a rarities release.

They've never stopped doing that. During the spring and summer of '06 they were playing World Container songs long before the album came out.

Ah, this old debate again. Save for a few minor flaws, I thought Bob did a great job capturing the energy of the band on WC. The only song I ever had a problem with was "World Container". There's way too much production and too many overdubs on that tune. It would've sounded much better as a simple acoustic piece. Of course when they do it live it's a different story, and it's since become one of my favorite live Hip tunes.
Oh, and the rhythm section sounds freakin' amazing on that album. Particularly Johnny's drums.

It's really slick, yeah, and I think it worked for WC. I'm not sur eif it will work for the next album, though, and I hope that he doesn't got too over the top like he did on the title track. I don't even know why there was a debate over this in the first place; we're going to love the album no matter what it sounds like andm if we're judging by the past 25 years, I don't think we'd have anything to worry about even if we weren't going to accept whatever is released anyway.
