WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just got in from watching the Aurora Borealis and WOWWWWWEEEEEE!!!! It was one of the best displays I've seen in my life!!!! The sky was green and the red streaks were blood red going up to the top of the sky!

I hope some others saw it. I took 2 rolls of pictures. Ill post when i get them processed.

I saw them from Halifax about 7:15pm then drove to darker country skies towards the Annapolis Valley. I stopped several times on the side of the road and looked up with my jaw on the ground. Amazing display. The display died off a bit after 9pm then picked up again at 12am

I got my pictures back, they came out excellent. When i get a few of them scanned I'll post them.

mannnn...I would kill to be able to get outside the city and see right now Sad Sad Sad The pain of being vehicularly challenged...

Where do you live in Halifax? If you're not way the hell out in the county. I might bike to your area later to check it out...

Keep a watch out for tonight. There was another very large flare ejected from the sun yesterday and it's expected to hit us this evening and overnight and may cause another large geomagnetic storm (northern and southern lights).

Also for folks in North America, this Saturday Nov 8th there will be a total Lunar Eclipse where the Moon will enter the Earth's shadow. It starts around 6:30pm EST and will turn darker red as it moves into the shadow. Pretty cool to see!

Thanks for the comments!

Dyers..as with anything to do with the stars and northern lights, the farther from the city and light pollution the better. You'll see a lot more.

Check http://www.spacew.com or http://www.spaceweather.com for more information and to see if there's a good possibility of a display.
