100 Greatest Canadian Albums
#1

CBC did a countdown of what they consider to be the top 100 greatest albums of all time: http://music.cbc.ca/#/blogs/2013/7/100- ... lbums-ever

Two Tragically Hip albums made it on the list: Day For Night comes in at #66, and Fully Completely comes in at #13.

This list is worth taking a look at!!!

Pretty good list overall, but there are a lot of glaring omissions in my opinion. Maybe I'll compile my own list and post it here when I'm done.

There are so many things wrong with that list, mainly the over-emphasis on indie rock. Wolfe Parade's album way ahead of DFN? Kathleen Edward's Failure ranked that high? I like that album a lot, but it's just not that significant. And they sure do love their Arcade Fire, don't they. (So do I, but their albums are over-rated IMHO)

Agreed. Especially since she's made much better records since then. Her 3rd album "Asking for Flowers" is the one that should have made the list. That record is f'n brilliant.

i went into that thinking...ok, where's Lowest of the Low's 'Shakespeare My Butt!' going to end up?
kept going on reading thinking, ok good it's in the top 20, in the top 10, in the top 5...and then i get to the end and go "wtf? how's that not in there AT ALL?!"

Agreed. I judge every list of Canadian albums by how high they rank that album.

And did I miss something or is there TWO Arcade Fire albums on there and not ONE Hank Snow album?

I will say I was happy with Fully's ranking and that they chose Sarah McLachlan's Fumbling Toward Ecstasy instead of the more commercially successful Surfacing.

DFN is better than anything Arcade Fire have done or ever will do.
