Gord Vs. The Microphone... Who Wins?
#1

The battle for king of The Tragically Hip has been a heated one so far this summer. On several occasions Gord has been scene exchanging words with the mic. Clearly they have been having relationship problems. Of course, I don't know all the details, but it seem sthe the MIc is struggling for supremacy. Gord is put it in it's place telling it is nothing without him, and that he is not a man, he is a microphone stand.

Anyway, the question is. If Gord and the Microphone(including stand) were to fight, who would win?

Is this a full-sized Gord or mini-Gord?

I'm tempted to give the edge to the Microphone Stand. Gord needs the Microphone Stand more than the Stand needs him. Although we have seen what kind of damage Gord can do to Paul's mic stand...it went down hard TWICE on Canada Day.

I don't know about that. In Wasaga he showed the microphone who's boss. He took a step back and mocked it quite humourously; putting his hands to his ears as if to say, "I can't hear you!"

At another point, after the mic has fallen from the stand, Gord returns to the mic to sing, and with shock on his face, discovers that the mic was missing. Very funny, but it proves that Gord cares about the mic, and definitely needs it, as much as the mic needs him.

In a split decision, Gord wins.

Gord wins, but by a nose-hair. He's man-sized inside.

I have to say that the stand and mic are going to win because Gord is letting it get the best of him. BUT..neither one can survive without the other. We will stay continued.....

Love/hate bitter/sweet

I will have to make my own decision after seeing him and the stand at Darien. 8)

Just a quick FYI on the ongoing saga:

Gordie and the mic stand appeared to be at odds again. Last night 10/6 in LA (Avalon) Gordie had a little dialog with the mic stand, eventually throwing it to the ground, taking a few steps backwards and folding his arms in what appeared to be utter disgust.

I'm paraphrasing but what I believe to have heard of this discussion was: You're just a mic stand, I supply the content, the back-story, the metaphors. I can get 12 just like you.
In the end, Gordie picked up the stand and delicately wiped it clean with his red bandana.

Funny stuff.

hahaha, I love it.

I love when Gord steps back and just kinda lets the microphone sit in embarrassment. As if to say "See, you are nothing".

Cant wait till Nov. 27 :thumb:

In TO on Canada Day, the mic lashed out at Gord a couple times, but Gord reminded the crowd that microphones aren't poisonous. That shut the stupid mic up.
