Is "Get Back Again" their best ever?
#1

I know, most of the band isn't even involved in the best known (Maybe only known) "swinging on a star" version of the song, but each listen makes it harder to argue against it as the greatest Hip song of all time.

It's sounds so genuine, so "hurtin" as Mr. Milgaard might say, and it's the perfect example of that oh-so-wicked juxtaposed harmony that Mr. Langlois and Mr. Downie do so well.

I'm thinking it's a shame it never receieved a commercial release.

I totally agree ....I just discovered this song a few weeks ago and I have pretty much listened to it over and over since Big Grin The way the guys sing this song is just amazing. It does make you wonder why the never put it on an album. Now this is one song I would kill to see live but that will probably never happen Cry

If they ever do a box set or greatest hits - I hope they will include some "unreleased" material. It goes to show how awesome the Hip are when even their unreleased tracks kick ass!

to answer the "what's the swinging on a star version" ... that's the acoustic version that Paul and Gord did on a radio show, in studio (they also played Radio Show).

That version kinda cements the song for me as the most fantastic of all the non-releaseds.

And, yeah, I can see it getting a few votes for all-time best too, depending on what day you asked me.

I have tons of friends who love The Hip, some who find them not so hot, and others who downright detest the Hip. But everyone... EVERYONE... loves Get Back Again... it truly is their most beautiful song...

I'm not sure what version I have... but there is most definitely two guitars and a bass in the song. There is clapping at the end of the track, I assumed this was live. Is there an actual studio recording? Is that what I have?

It's not even the best unreleased song. That would go to Montreal or a sentimental favourite nobody else has ever mentioned, Not So Necessary.
