Anybody heard this disc yet? I've been a 54-40 fan for years and I'm interested in picking this album up, but I'd like to hear some reviews first. I wasn't too keen on their last couple of efforts, but I've heard the new one has a real back-to-basics straight-ahead rock sound, mostly due to the addition of former Matt Good guitarist Dave Genn.

I had absolutely no idea they were coming out with a new album. And I consider myself a pretty big fan (e.g., I have Goodbye Flatland and can sing along with almost all the songs)

they're really below the radar these days.

I'll probably pick it up, unless somebody tells me its absolute shit.

Indeed. They're not even on Sony anymore. Goodbye Flatland was released independently, and their new album was released on a small label called True North records. I could be mistaken, but I don't think there's been a new 54-40 single on the radio since 1998 when "Since When" came out. Below the radar or not though, I'm glad they're still kickin around. I mentioned above that I wasn't too impressed with their last couple of albums, but that doesn't mean I think it's bad music. Neil Osborne is a talented songwriter, and even a mediocre 54-40 tune is still better than 90% of the shit that comes out these days. I'm looking forward to hearing what the new record sounds like.

I picked it up last week, and I have to say I can't stop listening to it...there are several standout tracks (the catchy "Golden Sun" and the lead single "Easy to Love" are my early favorites)...

I saw them at a small club in Thorold a few weeks back.. a free CD release party/show. The new songs are quite good! :thumb:

My sister bought me Yes to Everything for my birthday and I'm real impressed. Golden Sun is a wicked tune. I like what Matt Goods old guitar played brings to the mix.

That review stirred up a hornet's nest on the band's forum...For what it's worth, I would take the word of the good folks here at more value than someone who thinks the fifth track "This Is Here, This Is Now" is actually two separate tracks... :lol:

There's something to be said for innovation and evolution within a long-running band's work, but sometimes it goes too far, or goes awry. We all remember (and are still trying to forget) Neil Osborne's glammed-up eyeliner look and 54-40's overly slick sound of the late '90s. Thankfully, there's none of that here — Yes To Everything is a solid, energetic rock record with no filler or self-indulgent wanking. With the addition of ex-Matthew Good Band's Dave Genn co-writing and playing guitar, 54-40 sound like a band with a new lease on life. The result is songs that sound fresh while evoking the feel of old classics.

Finally picked this disc up this morning at Future Shop for only $11.99. Not a bad price for one of the best albums of the year so far. I've been listening to it all day. It's a great disc. I think it might be their best effort since Trusted By Millions. Neil Osborne is such a terrific and underrated songwriter. It's always cool when the veterans come out of hiding to show the kids how it's done.
