Gord's wrist band
#1

During the 2005 tour, Gord Downie was wearing a multicolored wristband. Does anyone know what it represents or stands for?

Hugh asked him, Gord said it was just to catch sweat... although he said it did possess "magical powers."

It also keeps the guitar from rubbing against the skin. Many people wear them who sweat a lot.

I was really just hoping it was a homage to Loverboy. :jump

Yeah, this summer is ridiculous for humidity aint it? I've taken to running at night now, and even at midnight, I'm losing up to four pounds per run because of mild dehydration. That really plays havoc on your bowels while exerting yourself I've found... so if you're ever on the path behind the Museum of Civ... stay on the path. Smile

Why does Courage come to mind?????? "Piss on all your surroundings....."

Wink

I'd like to bike more often, but not at the expense of my body! I played inline hockey once in the heat, and lost almost 10 pounds in sweat. Good weight loss program, until I drank 10 pounds of water back.

10 pounds!? Yeah brother, that'll mess ya up quick. My routine is shot now, as I found blood in my urine for the first time after a run last night... I'm guessing that's not a good sign.

But I'm sure you're all happy I'm sharing my medical problems with you! Smile

I don't know if anyone ever notices the back of one of Gord's acoustic guitars is so worn out/down. I don't know if it's because it could be an old guitar that he picked up at some garage sale, but it could be from all the sweating he does. I can't see a lot of sweat doing a wooden guitar any good.

Ah, that's a really good point. In Ottawa at the start of the IBE tour, I noticed he began using a new acoustic, seperate from the sunflower guitar. When Billy Ray turned the sunflower guitar over, you could see why... you're right, the back is almost rotted through.

I figured wear and tear, but you're right, sweat probably does play a factor.

Take it from a fellow sweater..... (no doubt due to my diabetes, or so the theory goes) Tons of sweat does some funky things. Wink You should smell my goalie gear!

I always thought I was Gord's illegimate child.... I used to kinda look like him, back in high school. Back when I was skinny...., well, skinnier. Wink

I remember I had a gord pic from a magazine on my locker door and one of my friends sharpied on a pair of glasses and said "That's you!".

Sadly, I can't sing.

The things I talk about when I'm bored!

10 yard penalty for "illegal use of the search function" The thread above doesn't really answer the question.
