not a huge fan of OLP but my fiancee is so i took her to the show at the mod club last night. New stuff sounds great i must say. Mixed it in with some of the old including
innocent,
starseed,
clumsy,
naveed,
4am and
superman's dead.

She went out to buy the new cd today. from what i can remember, they played
love and trust,
where are you,
picture,
wipe that smile off your face

from the new one...acouple more but not sure what they were called.

All in all, pretty solid show.

he was pretty solid. Adn i agree...the last few times i saw them he kinda blew...maybe the 2 year rest did him some good :thumb:

Here's a review of the new album. Sounds like it's more of the same stuff they were doing on "Gravity". Bob Rock was their producer again, so that pretty much explains it.

Bob Rock is the complete opposite of what a good producer should be.

Agreed. Bob's production style is all about being big, glossy, polished, watered-down and radio friendly. OLP may be selling a lot more records because of him, but as artists they've become an incredibly boring paint-by-numbers top 40 band. It's unfortunate, because they had such a promising start (Naveed is still a killer album), and there was some decent stuff on the three albums that followed, but once they hired Rock to produce them, it all went to sh*t. Just my opinion of course.

I just bought the new album today, and I like it so far. It didnt blow me out of my seat or anything, but its good.

Yeah, I like Naveed. It has some good solid rock songs on it.

I chuckled when I read that review though. The part about each member of the band almost quitting the band and even Bob Rock threatening to quit. I mean, how far have these guys fallen? Do they think it's cool to come off as assholes who can't get along like Metallica? Is thisstrictly the cool thing to do when working with Bob Rock? OLP are on the verge or perhaps have gone over the edge in being so self-indulgent that they might explode. It's too bad though. Naveed rocked. Whenever you think you need to hire Bob Rock to "ROCK", you're in trouble. He should change his name to Bob "doesn't know how to" Rock.

I bought the album, I have always been a big OLP fan since back when I was in 7th grade when Naveed came out. I have seen them at least 10 times live and have always been impressed. I could really care less who produced the album, as long as it sounds good to me!

I bought it this morning and it has been playing all day. I love it and would say that it blows Gravity away. I am looking forward to see them on November 20th when they return to my old college, SUNY Geneseo.

Agreed, I have loved every album they've put up so far, up until Gravity. Don't get me wrong, it's allright, but after what they've been putting out it made me say "meh." I'm still deciding if I'm going to buy the new one, I do like Where Are You, but I am a poor college student now

I dont care if I get flamed for this, but Ive been listening to this album all day, and I have to say I really like it, its very good actually. But Im a weird OLP fan, I liked Gravity and Spiritual Machines the most, so go figure! 8)

I actually liked Spiritual Machines... they approached and made that disc in exactly the opposite way they and Bob Rock have made their last two. They made it quickly without over-thinking it too much, they had a real theme and purpose, and they took chances with their songs.

So by those standards I found Gravity to be a huge disappointment... it was all so routine, paint-by-numbers, imo.

As for the new album, Where Are You is a good song, but it's not earth-shattering. We'll see...

I dont know if you have heard the whole album yet, but Where Are You is definitely the best song on that album, actually its the one I like the least on the album so far..
