They're mysteriously skipping Thunder Bay.

I saw them at Olympic Island during the Sam Roberts/Sloan fest. They blew me away. I really hope to see them again soon

Cheers

Going to the show in Calgary next week. I can't wait to check them out, I've heard nothing but good things.

It took me a few listens to get into them, but now I'm hooked. I think they're one of the most unique bands to come out of this country in years. They definitely have their own sound.

I'm a fan of these guys. Don't judge them strictly on their radio singles. The record companies normaly release the "catchiest" songs to draw people in ... which isn't always a good thing. Download the song "Wake Up" by these guys and give it a chance.

Well? What do you think? I'm curious.
I find the Arcade Fire have a 'Talking Heads' vibe to them that I like. The lead singer is very David Byrne in his vocal delivery.

Got my tickets to S'toon. Anybody know anything about the Wolf Parade? I think they are the opener.

I have tickets to the Arcade Fire/Wolf Parade in Edmonton...I have both Arcade Fire albums, Funeral and their first EP and they are both great. I agree with what has been said about them being an acquired taste. Giev them time, i think they are the most promising band coming up today.

I just bought the Wolf Parade album yesterday and after my first couple listens I have to say I like it. The song Shine A Light is great. Rolling Stone recently listed them as one of the top 10 bands to watch this year.

I'll put up a post after the show next week, 6 days and counting

Glad you liked it Chancellor! I'd also recommend "Neighborhood #2 (Laika)", another great song of theirs.
What I don't like about the whole Arcade Fire phenomenon(sp?) is how much the band is being talked up by the music press. These guys& girls (and there are alot of them, anywhere from 6 to 9 performers at their live shows) are the "it" band of the moment and have been since Spring '05. They are being hyped like mad and to be honest no artist(s) would ever be able to live up to the expectations they have been labeled with.
The band is talented in the area of song writting, and they have a unique delivery, that's what makes them great to listen to. It's not for everyone, but most people will be able to at least appreciate what they are doing.
I've got a live FM recording of theirs that was done in France last year sometime, I'd be more than happy to torrent it on the tracker if there is any interest. The only downside to the recording is that there's a french (from france) radio announcer who is way too enthusiastic at times but it's funnier than it is annoying.
