World Container is here
#1

Well its been almost two years since I became more then a casual Hip fan. November 28 2004, ACC. man it did it for me, regardless, I've waited ever since that day for the new CD, and since the day is finally here (15 minutes actually) I just thought Id like to thank, and congratulate the band on what in my mind is an already impressive album. Thanks for everything you do guys, if you keep putting out albums of this callibre I'll never have to worry about my music becoming stale. And to everybody at hipbase, i think its fair to say, this is gonna be one hell of a day for most of us. Hope everone enjoys the album as much as I'm sure to.

I have been a huge fan since 1995 and seen 20 shows. I love reading new fans getting turned on to the band in relatively recent times. And I am sure there are many fans on here who have been following the band a lot longer than I have. It's great to see the enduring power of the Hip.

Did anyone used to go lineup for the CDs on Friday nights when the band used to go against the music industry and release new albums on Saturdays? I did it a couple of times. One time here in Kingston we were buying the CD downtown and then saw Dan Ackroyd and Johnny Fay walk past on the street. Pretty cool. Now I am checking iTunes, hoping they post the new album.

K, going to quit ranting and get back to work.

Enjoy the new album everyone.

Man, something I never thought I'd see in the "Thanks" section of a Hip CD: a thanks to Bruce Allen.

Pretty clear that Bob Rock had a huge impact on them: Bob. You are a revelation and generous about it. We are, gratefully, yours.

It's on Itunes now :jump

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

No kidding. I remember when that douchebag used to crap on the Hip and their music on a regular basis, and then Gord would fire back with witty comments from the stage whenever they played Vancouver, such as his famous quip in '96: "We'd like to thank Bruce Allen for making us famous." Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that Gord's on-stage comment was in response to an interview that Allen gave in which he essentially called the Hip mediocre crap, and that only with CanCon regulations could a band like that become big. (I can't believe I remember this stuff. I'm such a nerd.)

I wonder what changed his mind about them? Perhaps it was Bob Rock himself who told Allen "ya know, these guys are a good band. I think we should work with them." In a recent interview, Bob mentioned that it was Allen who suggested he work with them...but I'm not sure I believe that.
