Hip on Late Night Talk Shows
#1

Does anyone ever think about the possibility that when the record breaks out in the U.S., The Hip could make a musical appearance on one of the Late Night talk shows - Conan, Letterman, Leno, Craig. Whatever it is.

It would be really special to see them on Letterman for me personally since I'm a fan of Dave. Also, Paul Shaffer is a real Canadian music lover himself. Maybe there's leeway there? I don't know. It's kind of a dream I guess but it's worth getting your thoughts on.

Maybe we can start a petition!

Hmm,

Mike.

At the risk of sounding 12 years old. I'd say it would be worth setting a 24 hour period & having all of the active members email in their request. Might work I suppose... Then again, we're assuming the guys would want to do this.

Hmmm, why not ask MAv instead. Is this something they would be interested in doing in the nearby future?...

I used to believe that there's no chance in hell the Hip would ever get on those shows (they did play SNL in '95, but that was a long time ago). But in recent years we've seen Sam Roberts, Kathleen Edwards, Sarah Harmer, New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene, and K-OS all appear on various late night talk shows in the U.S. People the world over are salivating over Canadian music right now, so I think there's definitely a chance this time around. Seeing them on Letterman or Conan would be amazing.

Leno is still in L.A. right? I would much rather see them on Letterman as it is in N.Y.

I don't want to start a whole Letterman vs. Leno debate now haha. Had too much of those but...boo Leno Tongue Regardless though, if we start a petition, we can send it out to multiple shows - Leno, Letterman, Conan. No need for a limit.

I agree. I don't even know if that's something the band would be interested in but hey if there's enough fan support, they might be convinced.

- What's the best way to start up a petition? We need something that allows users to add names to a list.

Okay...my vote is in for the Hip on Leno (although I'd much prefer to see them on Letterman/O'Brien) :thumb:

Alright folks! I've made an online petition for Letterman! I can make one for Conan as well later. Let's try and get as many signatures as possible.

I'm kinda torn on this subject. As great as it would be to see the Hip on Letterman or otherwise, I feel that it is somehow beneath them. Kinda like its a turn in the opposite direction for their career.

I'm going to sign the petition, because it would ultimately be up to the band to perform or not.
